Hunter has distinguished himself through a precise, technically demanding approach to every aspect of training. His dedication to drilling the fundamentals has built a foundation that shows up in every sparring round and every kata performance. The discipline he brings to the mat week after week is exactly what the Cypress Warriors black belt standard demands, and he will carry that mindset with him when he joins the armed forces in July.

Zane's progression through the Cypress Warriors curriculum has been marked by steady, purposeful growth. From his earliest training to the candidate stage, he has consistently elevated his technique and composure under pressure. As he reaches this milestone, Zane is also adding to a martial arts legacy started by his father, Ben Van Avery, who teaches with Cypress Warriors and brings multiple black belts across many styles along with more than 40 years of martial arts experience. Zane is also touring colleges and pursuing his long-term goal of becoming a stage performer and actor.
